When it was 42% this worked well. I like the way it oozes out of the bottle. Unfortunately 38.5% freezes.

I love big Gin and Tonics but too much gives me a headache in the morning and if had a run on it years ago but found drinking “mother's ruin” regularly made me feel depressed.

I like a couple of G&T's every now and then nowadays.

The blood orange is what got me started Chris. So refreshing and the perfect tipple for my palette.

MGE is 40 this year @stonevibe. You have great taste. I've got the app, not had chance to use it yet.

I'm looking forward to trying all these. I just bought my mate a bottle of Roku for his 50th and he'd best return the favour!

MrsF is a big fan so we have a lot of gin - something like 20 different bottles at last count. I can't stand Gordons or anything too floral, but Plymouth makes a great martini, and there are loads to choose from that work well in a G&T.

I'm not into floral, but don't mind gordans - it's a gin that tastes of gin (ie juniper). It's not fantastic, but decent in a g+t.

I don't like the flavoured gins - I find I can't TASTE the juniper (= not gin) or if I can the juniper just doesn't go with whatever sweeter flavour they've added (=bad gin liqueur).

I love the rhubarb and ginger gin but it doesn't taste like gin at all... So it's really just rhubarb and ginger liqueur to me.

For drinking straight, I love a Scottish one - Caorunn. Crap in a tonic because it's so delicately flavoured but awesome neat over ice with a slice of apple or a cucamelon.

I also have a bottle of silent pool. That's really nice, I'm not sure how much its worth the price over others though. Gin is a fairly easy spirit to do well.

Best cheap one is Greenalls. You'll get a litre for less than 20 quid and it's a great standard gin that tastes right. I think it's cheap because it's cut to 37.5 percent rather than a better 45-50.

Don't skimp on the tonic, as it makes up the majority of the drink, and a decent one like a Fever Tree elderflower can take the drink up a couple of notches

With so many comparison web sites out there, how do I choose the best one?

    This is true.

Also, don't underestimate a gin and soda! I love them. 50ml gin, 150ml soda water, a few drops of bitters of your choice (grapefruit, orange or rhubarb are good imo) and a garnish of an edible flower or slice of citrus. Yum yum!

I recently received a bottle of Romeo's gin.  This one has a strong note of cucumber on top of the juniper. Lovely with Fever Tree Aromatic.

@djspecialist ;If you like the cucumber type flavours, then Hendrick's gin would be right up your street, add some Elderflower tonic and try not to drink the whole bottle!

Another thing I like is just diet tonic in a long glass with ice and a slice. No gin on school nights. It's very refreshing.

Me and the Mrs we’re discussing this the other day. When did it become acceptable to drink Gin? You’d have been laughed out the pub a few years ago...

Of course these days you’ll be supping it in a gin bar with all your other on-trend hipster mates so they won’t be laughing.

I don’t drink spirits so I’m not likely to become a Gin drinker or visit a trendy bar (if they don’t serve bitter I’m not going in!)

So is it just a passing fad?

I used to serve it to old ladies when I worked a bar...

Plymouth gin and ginger ale for me. Yum!

Beefeater and Grenall’s are both decent at the cheaper end of the scale.

Definitely a fad, but a welcome one - in 2010 when I was at uni I drank gin, vermouths, rums and was often laughed at because it wasn't vodka or cider. I'm hoping it's not a fad though because I like enjoying gin, rum, whisky, bourbon and all manner of other craft drinks.

On school nights I mix tonic with Angostura Bitters, which results in a long drink with a similar alcohol content to shandy. It's a lovely drink and very refreshing.

Craft Gin Club? My wife bought me a subscription last Christmas, I really quite enjoy getting random gin through the post.
It is really "Cucumbery" that Romeo's, still deciding whether I like it or not.

Handy tip for the non cork sniffers: Freeze slices of lemon, lime and grapefruit, when you have them in. Saves not having the right fruit in when you need it and solves the  problem of having to drink 10 gins an evening to make best use of that grapefruit. Also Strawberries that are about to go off freeze perfectly as well.
