Do you remember Esso Tiger Tokens and the excitement when the new free gifts catalogue came out and you picked one up at the Esso petrol station? I used to load up on TDK SA90 tapes!

Every car you ever went in had some tiger tokens flapping around in the glovebox.

    There's a blast from the past..
    But I raise you..
    Green Shield Stamps :)
    I once collected so many books of them I was able to sell them for enough cash to buy some new machine-heads for my old Pearl bass guitar.

    I remember stickers being available with "I've got a tiger in my tank" written on them.  Also furry tiger tails to hang from the rear view mirror.  This was well before furry dice became popular.
    Yes, I remember Green Shield stamps too.

    PG Tips Tea collectable cards? My Grandad had a huge wad in his drawer with a rubber band around them, I used to get them out every time I went round.

    All we get now is Tesco Clubcard points. Nowhere near as much fun.

    I've still got quite a few of the glass tumblers from the Esso promotions, which I use every day.

    RandallFlagg must have cursed them by posting this though - one cracked yesterday.

    Before Tiger Tokens they did commemorative coins /cards;
    I remember the History of Flight Coins and the Wildlife cards which were like a form of Top Trumps and they did the 1966 World Cup commemorative Coins.

    Green shield stamps I remember, my aunt used to have books of them and, as best as I recall it, her Christmas shopping was based on what she could buy with them. If we ever happened to get any we had to hang onto them to give to her.

    I remember that you could save labels off Robinsons jam to send off for ceramic golliwogs. My cousin Davina had a full set of them ( may be a dozen different ones) which I was quite jealous of. She became a teacher and quite PC so I wonder if she's still got them somewhere locked away.

    Green shield stamps used to have a catalogue and a store (very like Argos, and maybe a pre-cursor ?) where we used to go and redeem.  But that was in the middle of London, so how did you redeem your GS stamps if you didn’t have one of those nearby ?

    By mail, I think. I'm sure my mum got some stuff with them.

    Do you remember that deal when you saved loads of ten pound notes, went to a guitar shop and exchanged them for a Gold Top Les Paul?
     They’re still running that system, I think. :)
