After realising that I couldn't live without an acoustic, I picked up this one today. My first Larrivee and I'm very impressed. It's their entry level model but it feels very well built and it sounds great.

Stunning guitars. When I was on a hunt for the next acoustic some years back I tried one of these OM-02s and an L-02. Both were stunning with a fantastic piano-like note for note clarity. One of my few true regrets is that I didn’t buy that L-02.

Edit: Happy NGD by the way, sorry to forget the pleasantries, enjoy it!

welcome to the larry club, that's a nice piece of timber on that top, that'll be a great guitar.

I'm not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me.

I’ve been tempted by these but you don’t see many of them around. They look very nicely made, good woods and classic looks. They made a limited run a few years ago with Peruvian Walnut back and sides - lush.

Yeah, the Peruvian ones looked goooood.

They do a specific fingerstyle version, too.

I have the om-02 and it's one of the best acoustics I've ever played tbh!

The only thing I’m a bit annoyed about is that this has happened in transit. It appears to be cosmetic only, there’s no movement in the neck.

I suppose it adds character - the dealer said it 100% didn’t leave like it, but it’s covered by a 12 month warranty if there’s any issues.

Ok, so after sleeping on things I decided I didn’t want to live with it, and also going back to a 25.4” scale really made me realise how much I enjoy a short scale guitar.

Long story short I made the mistake of playing some considerably more expensive instruments whilst in store and am now coming home poor but very happy :)

Some pics. I'm absolutely blown away by this guitar. It feels like all the gear I've been through in the last 3/4 years has just been leading me to this. By far and away the best instrument I've ever had my hands on.

Very nice. I’ve had more expensive guitars but Martin do it for me in a way that other brands don’t. Love that 00. Enjoy.

Fine work on the NGD.  A Martin 00-28 is as good as it gets IMO.

FWIW, I think the 00-14 is one of the best body sizes out there but they seem to go completely under the radar.  I have a 00-21 repro, which I like a lot.

100%. This is a guitar for life for me. It’s head and shoulders above anything else I’ve ever played.

    Good choice sir

For me Martin make the best acoustics
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Until this is never played one I liked. Having said that they were all 1-11/16ths nut width which always felt fat too cramped for me and all longer scale.

For me, the shorter scale with 14 frets and the wider nut is the perfect recipe. I can honestly see me keeping this forever.

Damn that also looks great. How does it compare to the Larrivee?

Honestly it's night and day. But then again they're not remotely in the same price band so I suppose it stands to reason.

But it must be said the Larrivee was absolutely a fine guitar. I'm glad I sprung for the Martin in the end but if I was looking for something about the £1k range again new, I reckon that Larrivee would be hard to beat.

I would have to consider room control if getting anything over £1k. Interesting, thanks! And enjoy!
