The AlexO buying guitars I can't play saga  (tendonitis) continues.
So today I offer all you lovely folks a bit of a special one and the coolest R8 about (IMO)

For those who don't know this is the Pre Lucy Les Paul that Gibson brought out in 1997. Lucy being the infamous 57 Les Paul George Harrison and Eric Clapton Played.  Also a similar colour to Johnny Marr's LP.

It's a really beautiful looking guitar and plays and sounds as it should. It has had the original tuners changed at some point to Groovers but no holes have ben drilled. The case is a bit tatty and there are a few dings in the back I'm guessing from where someone wore a big belt other than that its  excellent condition for it's age. Pickups and Pots are original.

The neck is more 59 than 58.

I paid £2550 yesterday for it. The nice bloke I bought it from had it for sale just under 3k.

Based in South Manchester.

Nope the perils of buying and trading used guitars. Which I'm going to stop doing from now on (he says)

I've just been over to PMT today to actually try a few problem is my tendentious issues doesn't often flare up till later on in the day. Really I should find a new hobby.

  • What would you take for it Alex?

I've got a Gibson sg special or a fender squire - they're worth the same, honest.

Seriously though, good luck with the sale :-)
    That is an absolute stunner!

I really like the guitar colour, but to be honest I'm enjoying your living room and garden even more.

Lovely that Alex. Regarding your tendinitis, whenever I’ve had tendon issues it’s been due to changing to different necks -  typically with very different shoulder profiles to what I’ve been playing previously. It might be worth taking time to gradually introducing new guitars and resisting the urge to play them exclusively giving your wrist time to adjust? Just my experience!

Exactly, a lot of my own problems were due to bad posture ie slouching on the sofa while playing, try playing standing with a short strap so that your thumb is in the middle of the back of the neck, failing that I will swap you a rare MIM Jaguar that might help.

Wow that’s a nice Les Paul! Very small detail but prehistorics are only before 1993ish. This will be a normal historic if it’s a 1997. GLWTS

That’s the sort of guitar that would stop me from leaving the house. Very lovely indeed.

That's fucking gorgeous. Love the 'alternate' colour LPs.

Regarding the tendonitis, what sort of neck makes it better or worse?

Cheers for the comments. It's a great guitar and one I've been after for years!

I've posted a few posts in other sections about my hand issues and it seems more complex than just big or small necks .
I originally thought it was just skinny necks but can be any.

Sure you are all as bored as me of seeing me posting a new guitar for sale every other week lol.

I'll leave the Bumping on this for a weeks now and see if time allows me to get used to it...

the desire for a cherry red Les Paul has become strong in this one, though tempered by the lack of two and a half big ones.
