A friend has just battled through throat cancer. Relatively very good outcomes compared to other forms apparently. He suffered with the treatment but given the all clear now.

His doctor said just 20 years ago they would have just removed large parts of his throat and tongue. Some good and bad stories on here about the NHS but a real jewel in the crown IMO.
