One of these is installed in my Vintage V72 at the neck - any idea if it's the same dimensions as a Filtertron / TV / Fidelitron pickup?

Just FYI @OilCityPickups in case you knew? There might be a Filtertron-esque sale in it for you ;)

It depends if the V72 routing is designed to take P90s as well as Mini humbuckers ...A Filtertron will just fit width wise into most P90 routs, but you will have an ugly 1/4 inch gap at either end, and the old mounting screw holes will show ... unless you get a mounting ring made up to cover them and the gap.

Vintage/Wilkinson pickup isn't P90 sized so that shouldn't be an issue. But a mounting ring might make sense anyways...

    You misunderstand me ...
The original mini humbucker was adopted by Gibson to use up P90 routed Les Paul bodies. The mini humbucker is way smaller than a P90 so Gibson cut the tops out of P90 covers to make them into pseudo-mounting-rings. A mini humbucker is also way smaller ... well narrower than a Filtertron.
If your guitar has been routed the traditional way to take mini humbuckers... that is a P90 rout ... you'll be fine. If they have just routed large enough for the mini humbucker the rout will be too small.

Ah! Apologies. Yeah it's just large enough for the mini humbucker. Presumably the gap can be cut to fit a Filtertron / Fidelitron?

It should be able to be ... it's a fairly large job mind.
The V72 is the Tele model with the scratchplate yes? Are you sure the rout under the scratch-plate isn't big enough for a regular humbucker? If so then all you have to adapt is the hole in the scratch-plate.

I'll have to have a look under the scratchplate. Yeah, it's got a scratchplate but the V72 appears to come in two flavours - the one with HH config, and the one with mini HB and singlecoil like I have.

It could just be cheaper and easier to find a Squier Cabronita on ebay...

If one comes HH you can bet you have a full size rout on yours ... they won't build two different bodies.
