We could simplify things and have it in my back garden...

Do you have the kind of place that could hold something like this?

If we did do this, Mrs Alnico (Or 'Hot Stack' as we've taken to calling her :)) ) would bake us some lovely Jack Daniels Fairy Cakes !

I wouldn't go anywhere near a car boot sale with proper guitar kit.

That is of course unless you are happy for hoards of vultures accosting you before the boot is even open and offering you 50p for everything...

I took an old Eko semi to a boot fair once. One bloke seemed interested but asked me if it was "a lead or rhythm guitar?" I told him it could do either but he walked off muttering about only wanting a rhythm one "cos I can't play lead".

    Fair point well made.

Love that story about the Eko.

sorry lads I think car boot might have been a little off.

I was originally thinking indoors in a community hall or something as we would be able to power amps in there.

Outdoors will mean unpredictable weather and tricky power issues.
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

*sigh* I'd be able to lay hands on a Birmingham venue... ;)
Well, Birmingham would be quite central.

I suggested elsewhere trying to arrange some sort of 1st birthday bash for theFB, so we could maybe do it under that banner?

    General meet-up.
Sort out a few deals (pre-arranged) and a few more on the day.
Jam session a la Fest style - be good if we could pre-arrange a set list perhaps?
Maybe some gear demos from our "made in the UK" members.
Maybe some more gear demos from those of us/you with demo-worthy gear.
And general eating & drinking and photo-taking.

Sounds like a decent afternoon & evening's worth of entertainment.

Maybe also (I'm thinking out loud here) we could use it to show & judge the results of theFB's "Clarksonesque challenge with a twist" that I haven't told you all about yet (because it's still at the thinking & planning stage).

    Hmmmmmmm.
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

    I am thinking Northampton/Leicestershire/Warwickshire.

All three are accessible from the M1/M6/A14/A5 which covers most the major roads in the UK and probably has a better catchment?

@TTony is this something you are looking to take over? Do you want some help etc?

This idea crossed mind a while ago, I like  the idea of a guitar get together so we could all try something out that we might otherwise dismiss, or not have funds or access to.

Happy to ferry someone from Bham to wherever !

My first job was tea boy. Even I can make a cuppa!! (But you lot can get your own... ;-) )

If I can help in any way (asides tea making and woefully unhelpful comments) let me know

There is another discussion suggesting a 1st birthday party around August. If this were timed around then it would give everyone a chance to save up a bit and bring some cash.

Would it be so difficult to merge the two ideas and make it a 1st birthday party / Jam Session / Bring and Buy Sale ?

    Midlands sounds great.

There are a few community centres/football clubs etc on Junctions 16 and 18 of the M1.

They should have enough space inside with potential bar and weather permitting maybe even a bbq.

There is a truckstop just north of J18, it's on the A5.

It's now an Eddie Stobart depot as well as being a general truckstop but as such it's all just been massively revamped and is very clean and well done out. I'm not sure about a bar but it does have a great café and I think it may have a function room. The added bonus would be the amount of truckers who would be there anyway. It might increase the attendance, sales of gear and general audience for any jam session.

Worth checking out I would have thought.

I'd be up for something like that - a swapshop/boot sale aspect is a great idea
