    Yay lols a plenty :)

Keep in mind that my last band were called Sister E and the Filthy Lounge Band so I'm not averse to a silly name
The bassist in my old band had previously earned a successfull living as a full time pro in a funk/ soul covers band playing Butlins and such like. The crazy, crazy name of his band:

    The Funksters

I think the moral there is never over estimate the public! :o3

There is a lot of wisdom in this.

I was having a chat with my fellow musicians about "What is a band name for?" and we came to the conclusion that for a pub covers band it's really just something for the landlord to write on the blackboard.

With that in mind the most logical band names are:
    The Funky Soul Band
    The Indie Rock Band
    The 80's Metal Band

Or words to that effect. If you call your band "Ken Dod's Dad's Dog's Dead" (as I know someone who did) you are doing yourself no favours.

Something you can say down a telephone line and will get written correctly on that blackboard is no  bad idea ( if difficult to come up with something not already taken). One of my favourite local band names is Skabucks. That tells you they are a ska band, there's some sense of humour and it is pretty difficult to spell wrong. Fairly contemporary reference too so its not only the 50 year old skinheads who normally go to ska gigs that will get it. For what they do it works, an almost perfect ska cover band name.

    Uncle funk
    Funk Station
    Soul Station
    Cafe Soul
    etc
    etc
