too many strings for me - I thought you were currently in love with all things Marleaux ?

I wanted something a bit more 'Jazz; like so I did think about a Marleaux Votan but they are much dearer and when I got accurate neck dimension figures I thought the neck was going to be too big.

The Sandberg neck is very close to the Marleaux Consat I own.

The Sandberg is a tiny shade over 9lb which is fine for me, but having swapped emails with Hipshot about a different bass I have discovered that on the average 5 string, swapping the old fashioned tuners with Hipshot Ultra-lights can save an entire pound!

So I might do that anyway.

Absolutely love it! Looks amazing. 

I've gone to 4 strings now and I'm sticking with that, but that as a 4 would be bass perfection to me. More pix required!!!!

Who did the relic job?

I'm quite happy on 4 strings -but for the last 2 years I've been playing with my daughter's school orchestra and the extra range is really useful - especially when I get a piano score to play.

The relic job is a standard finish option from Sandberg

IT HAS ARRIVED.

Quick 5 minute go just through Amplitude shows that it plays very nicely and the relic job is even better in person.

The other thing that it revealed is that Sandberg strings suck. Need some D'addario's STAT!

The build quality is amazing (this is my second Sandburg) so I'd be tempted by a guitar too.

Saw a thread on talkbass before I bought my first 'berg that contained the phrase "kept the Sandberg, the Sadowsky got sent back"

It's not quite as bright in real life and the difference between the green and blue is less obvious.

Looks genuinely old in real life!

I'm not completely sold on the relicing (I think it would look nicer "as new") but I bet its a great bass.
