I may be in the market for an overdrive pedal soon,I usually just use my Dr z maz jnr for overdrive and use the guitars volume pot to clean it up.Lately though i'v been running the amp clean and really enjoying it,so I'm after a low to medium gain pedal that is fairly transparent and is sensitive to picking dynamics like a good valve amp(I don't want much I know) On my short list are The wampler euphoria, wampler paisley drive (big brad paisley fan) and the timmy.I use a fulltone fatboost for leads if that's going to be a consideration with stacking etc.Does anyone have any experience with some or all these pedals especially with a Dr z maz? Cheers llew.

The best OD I have tried for dynamics is without doubt the Lazy J Cruiser. With the SAT control at minimum compression the OD is totally transparent - it just sounds like the crunch is from the amp. If you haven't tried one you really should. It's my favourite pedal ever!

I'm really tempted by the timmy I have to say,is it really as transparent as they say? As a rule I'm not a fan of overdrive pedals and prefer natural amp dirt, but think i'l have to go down that route if I want to keep the nice clean tone I'm using.I'm playing clean more often than not these day's so a good clean tone is the priority (how time's have changed) I think an evening glued to you tube is in order.

    Trex moller or gristle king.
    or barber half gainer.

I personally hate the lazy j cruiser, think its the most over rated pedal ever...

I've never really got on with Wampler stuff.

A lot of them sound a bit filtered like a Sansamp.

Good at bedroom levels, but a bit odd at gig volume.

I'm surprised you say that but everyone to their own :) You have to be happy with your tone/amp before you use the cruiser mind you

I really thought the best sound you can have is an naturally overdriven amp. Just don't get these OD boxes once you have that. But then I'm not a gainy guy anyway
