Is there any particular models that are ideal for slide or is it simply a question of get one and get used to it? Had a les Paul Jr which was good poss because it had a fairly flat radius. Considered strat teles but fiddling with action at bridge to get it raised can be a faff... anyone found the ideal model for slide?

I use my LP Jr as it has quite a high action and flattish board.

    I'm rubbish at it though!

Personally I like a Strat through a compressor a la Ry Cooder and Lowell George.

+1 for danelectro.  If you buy one of the current models it'll probably come with the action 'slide ready', or mine did anyway.  Essentially you need something that is searingly bright hence danelectro/ tele or LPJ/ SGJ at a push

Derek Trucks seems to do pretty good with an SG.

    Bonnie Raitt is Strat?

Why? As mentioned, Derek Trucks with SG, Duane Allman with a LP, Sonny Landreth plays a strat or LP, can't think of any slide players who use tele's?

In fairness, Arlen is very much a 'Tele player'.

I did a gig with him in the mid-80s and he did quite a lot of slide stuff on a Strat-style guitar as well.

Def an SG. I picked up a nice Burny copy just for slide.

Gonna be the black, Bigsby'd Gretsch 6128-'57TV for me. I'm advised Just Got Paid is on the set list and the Gretsch ain't getting used for nowt else, so up the string height goes, and off we pop. I'd better choon it different as well.

TV Jones Classic in the bridge tho so all is suitably well.
