    Argh, I know. Might buy one at full retail. Best sounding thing I've heard for a long time. Can you leave the preamp on all the time even when the echoes are off? If so I can dump some pedals!

    No you can't, only when the pedal is engaged. Oh, I just bought a strymon timeline, so the belle epoch may be up for sale if you're still looking for one? Pm me :)

    I Thought if you put the pedal into "buffer" mode the pre amp would always be on.  Have you tried opening up the pedal and switching it from true bypass?

    No, there's an internal switch which allows you to switch it into what's basically a trails mode, which means that the analogue EP preamp part of the circuit is always on. There's a gain trimmer in there too so you can set it higher than unity if you want a bit or a lot of signal boost.
