I've installed an Oil city Honky Tonk Angel neck pickup into my DIY Telepartscaster, it adds warmth to the sound. I'm using a dual opamp boost circuit, which I designed to boost without cutting the middle and bass. Can you hear the very, very slight diode clipping.

Here's a quick demo:

Very nice. I have a honky tonk angel in one of my Teles, really pleased with it.

I've added a Mosfet to the dual opamp circuit, I think it sounds a bit more mellow, but still has plenty of bass and middle, IMO it creates a nice smooth tone. The Oil City pup is sounding good.

    Here's a short sound clip:

Here's a sound clip of only the guitar, no backing, with the boost "On" then "Off", so you can hear how much louder volume is when boosted.

    Circuit "On": 0:00 to 1:30min

    Circuit "Off": 1:35 to 2:50

Sounds good, also sounds just a tad crisper in the highs with the boost.
