I dug out some old TG backing tracks recently and had a crack at playing along with them.
Now, I play the guitar every day for at least half an hour etc - not practicing, more noodling unplugged...
However, after an hour or two of playing to these tracks, my fingers are as sore as hell - haven't been this sore since I started playing donkeys' years ago.
Either I'm getting carried away in the moment or I'm not used to 'proper" playing
It certainly focuses your mind when you play to a track though - I'm a lot more careful about what I play and think a lot harder in terms of scales etc...

My routine has gotten lazy. I play along with a couple of warm up songs like Maiden or Deep Purple or early Metallica (but the recorded versions, hardly ever the backing tracks cos then I'd be forced to hear my mistakes), then I noodle for a few more minutes, then generally have a strummy sing along before putting the guitar down again.
I need something to work towards I think...
