Need to replace pot on colleague's Yamaha Pacifica - which?

Will any 250k pot do it, or do I need a mini pot?

I've changed the electrics on a Pacifica 112. I remember that I used 500K Alpha mini pots. I don't remember whether there was actually enough room to fit a full sized pot, though. I used 500K because I was fitting a new humbucker and stacked-humbucking singles. If I remember correctly, the original pots are 500K. The original Yamaha pickups were quite muddy sounding, so if you've got an HSS setup I'd maybe think about going with 500K.
