Inspired by & to complement Twang Corner, started by Eric, here's a thread for wonderful hypnotic, dirge & drone like music.
I'm sure it'll prove extremely popular...
Starting off with Hawkwind, a huge favourite from when I first got into music-
Unfortunately they weren't playing these by the time I started seeing them around Astounding Sounds & Amazing Music.
I suspect they influenced a lot of later electronica & techno stuff, though possibly indirectly.
& some great playing from Lemmy & Dave Brock here.
Spacemen 3 (severely overlooked)
Velvet Underground
The version of Sweet Jane on this album is the best I've ever heard. This is less well known though.
RL Burnside. It's not all bad you know.
Bardo Pond (Hawkwind fans I beleive). Bog-
I love this, but don't own it, if anyone knows where it can be had I'd appreciate you letting me know.
For anyone who thinks this is all shit or doesn't get this stuff that's understandable, it's just different taste. All I can say is give it a try & just let it get hold- some of the tracks need to sort of warm up.
Hopefully others will post their likes of a vaguely similar nature.

(Dave Brock is the reason I picked up a guitar)

(Steamabacus) Not sure why I wanted to play guitar, but Dave Brock seemed an amazing player to me, my interest in much bigger bands, I won't name, faded but I still have my Hawkwind records.
I've heard of Neu, but don't know them, think they were on that BBC documentary, I liked that track. Think I liked what I heard of Amon Duul too. Also like Kraftwerk & Tangerine Dream.
Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

Ahh, very glad you liked, their about my best find in the last couple of years. Don't like everything I've heard but by & large v good to excellent. Unfortunately the back catalogue is not easy to get hold of, but they're still going strong, lots of tracks on YT. Look forward to listening to some of the new posts later.

Two which I like at the moment:
"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone." - Walt Kowalski
"Only two things are infinite - the universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein
Also this is wondrous
