So I've got this lovely old Small Clone and it's got that stupid DC in

I'm happy to remove the old one and ream the hole till it's big enough for those barrel like 9v dc ins

but does this do the same thing?

http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/21-x-55mm-single-hole-fixing-dc-socket-jk09k

will the ring being positive and tip beign earth sod it up? I suspect it may.
A sig-nat-eur? What am I meant to use this for ffs?! Is this thing recording?

Yes, because it will short the positive (sleeve) to the casing (ground, negative).

It's really better just to get a converter cable so you don't have to modify the pedal. I just did with an Ibanez 8 series for someone like that.

Don't know, I just made one with the socket end of an old daisy chain and a right-angle 3.5mm plug.

I've done it on a few EHX pedals, makes life a lot easier than yet another odd cable, but not with that sort of thing; try this

The same thing is available in other places it's just the location I recall.

For god knows what reason I can't get a link up, but pedalstuff.com do a DC socket to 3.5mm jack plug lead - would that be the fella you need?
