  • Not quite sure where they sit within the definition...but I loves me the three Down albums (the two EPs leave me cold, alas..)

Saw Orange Goblin supporting Down a while back and really enjoyed them, but found their recorded stuff somewhat lacking.. I think they could do with a huge fat wall of guitars where they only have the one guitarist, IIRC.

I like doom. I like sludge. But I don't really like fuzz pedals.

I love doom, and have been playing it for over twenty years, but don't like fuzz pedals except for use with garage and psyche.

Doom to me is very broad...and I also think fans of Doom are into a very broad range of music...so in my mind this is open to anyone that wants to discuss loud slow heavy music.

One thing that is not up for discussion within these walls is the argument of taking a 20w combo to a gig is better than a full stack because micing up is better!

Not really doom, but I very much enjoyed the Slint Documentary that's included in the Spiderland reissue.

Also really enjoying the True Widow album.

Guess what I'm trying to say is, I don't really listen to Doom, but I like heavy Post Rock :)

    My favourite doom albums:

Trouble - Psalm 9. Still the greatest doom record of all time
    Saint Vitus - Hallows Victim
    Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus
    The Obsessed S/t
Scald - Will Of The Gods Is Great Power
    Force - Demo 1984
    Sorcerer first demo
    Witchfinder General - Death Penalty

Is The Body considered this genre? Or too noisy for that?

I love me some Stoner and Sludge. It's not something I play a lot of on guitar, but it does interest me.

I've been listening to Vitus and The Obsessed for well over twenty years so its likely. Mostly we are influenced by Trouble, Mercy and stuff likely early Revelation.

    As for doom gear.

I use either a les paul or flying v into a JMP 2203 , and our other guitarist uses an SG into a Laney Iommi. Both doom basics covered.

Count me in. Went to Desertfest last year and saw some good bands - Pentagram, Kadaver, Om, Witch Mountain etc. didn't go this year as lineup wasn't so good. Sleep are announced for 2015 though so will go again. Love Electric Wizard, saw Sabbath last year, also love Orchid, The Sword, etc. I have a growing collection of fuzz pedals.....

I love the BAT Pharaoh. I've been getting through alot of fuzzes lately and so far nothing has come close to the BAT Pharaoh. I'd like to try the LSTR out. I got the most use out of Germanium/hi with fuzz cranked and high and tone at 11'oclock. I've sold it on as I should be picking up a very cool replacement tonight or tomorrow.

The Pharaoh is awesome...and i've also had his LSTR and Ritual.

But i've come to the conclusion that i prefer fuzzy distortion...and the quantum mystic is great for that

Looking forward to what you got coming @juansolo!
