I have a RG 760 in Burnham, 1991 Fujigen era....it looks 5 years old rather than 23...theres 2 dings on the back and lower bout and slight oxidysation on the volume & tone knobs, Frets are medium now as they were dressed by Feline a couple of years ago. Lovely guitar but don't really play her much. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7049/6891418565_732c355828.jpg

It's made in Japan so it's as good as a Prestige, easily. Those old Japanese RGs are killer.

Yeah, I'd have that over a prestige just about any day of the week.

Yeah prestige on the cheaper MIJs only started around 2003 I think. Before that (for example) a 2000 RG570 is more or less the same thing as a 2003 1570 Prestige.

Prestige is a branding term for Japanese made instruments, as production moved to Korea. The case has Prestige on it. The 7xx series was top of the line at the time. The only thing above it was the briefly made RG1200 and the Jem's

My RG2550 has the EMG setup now 81 85 and SA running at 18v , well worth the faff tbh. The Prestige iirc was the next one up from the J Craft range , although my knowledge of Ibanez is sketchy at best

Yarp, prestige was just when they started making cheaper versions in other countries. They needed to market the MIJ line as better, rather than the 'standard'.

In other words, if it was made a few years later, it would be Prestige.

That is almost exactly the same as mine. Feckin awesomes guitar. Mine has DiMarzio's in it and a phase switch. And has done most things from Pink Floyd to Metallica.

Mine's named Charlene. And is most definetly not for sale.

I dunno. They were certainly marketing the 570 as non-prestige long after non-MIJ Ibanezes were available. As I said, I think it was 2003 (roughly) when they started to make everything that was made in Japan Prestige- there had been Prestige (and also J Custom) before that, but it was only the high-end 3xxx model IIRC. I think that's when the Edge Pro trem was released, as well.

From what I gather they only made them for one year , with a one piece mahogany body and the thin maple veneer ,
