The only LP pickups that have floated my boat lately have been BK's shame they are so bloody expensive :(

They've got some new '59 Tributes this year, would have been '57 Classic's last year.

The Trad Pro and The Trad Pro 2 are different to the regular Traditionals...the coil split and boost being the main difference, but also the 60s neck and weight relief.

It's a bit of a minefield really keeping up with the spec and changes!

I thought yours was a regular Traditional.

Having played it for a few hours I can see why this forum rates them, very versatile! I don't feel the need to change anything especially the pickups, their killer! And the boost... Yeah I get it, not essential but a nice add on!

I bought a pro 2 50's neck earlier this year then promptly sold the Lp Std. Tempted to try some Montys pickups which I've heard in a Vanquish that sounded monster, but the ones in the Pro2 are fine for me as they are. Does the Slash thing really well so quite happy.

@Pwalo I couldnt see how spending £150 on replacement pickups would benefit this guitar, sounds so nice!

Nothing wrong with the pick-ups in mine either. It absolutely sings.

Agreed - That's why I've not done it but I do like a good fiddle. You never know till you've tried - just a tad expensive for a try.

It probably won't happen unless some fall into my lap....

Forget to mention the satin neck and back which for me is sooo much nicer than the gloss.

That foliage on the left hand side of the LP makes it look like it's had a weird cut out!

That's a bit harsh.  You don't need to destroy the guitar...!  ;)

I was looking HARD at this guitar.  However, I didn't have $2000+ to spend, so I got the Epi LP Traditional plus top Pro instead.  $550, and it's functionally the same imo- just no boost.  Plus it has Pro buckers I it, instead of the Gibbo p/us.

I wanted the Pro II in Merlot.  Got the Epi in wine red.  Like yours, it's a gorgeous guitar.  NOT weight relieved, either.

Anyhow, to echo what's been said above, the Pro II is a damn nice guitar!  Through a Blues Deluxe, the tone was to die for!  JUST what I was looking for!   With a great fuzz pedal, I was in heaven- and things got kind of loud.  Had to put it down before I got attached to it!  The boost function gives it a nice punch when you need it, but I can live without it- that's what dirt pedals are for, right?   Nice grab!  I'd say you got the better end of that transaction.

( funny thing is- as soon as I got up to go pay for the Epi, another guy plugged an LP into that same amp- with the same results: incredible tone.  I ended up striking up a conversation with him about it.)

I STILL play my $350 Schecter more than any other I own...  Go figure.
