Given you are just down the road this isn't something you do in the shed Wez

Any idea on ballpark cost to replate 2 pups and a maestro?

You’ll need some gold rings, a heavy bottomed saucepan and some tongues.

Let me know when you're set up and we'll proceed from there.

Last time I had nickel done it was about £9 a pickup. I'd expect twice that or more for gold. Depends on the carat, how much work is needed on the parts etc. how bad are they? Aged gold looks cool!

I have upgraded to a large garage ;)

replating its not something I have tried before,  it is possible to do it at home but possibly more trouble than its worth because, as stated above, aged gold looks cool

  • I guess it depends how aged it is!

Like all plating, it's the stripping and polishing which accounts for most of the cost.
It's a pain in the arse on old worn parts.

  • I have a mate who has done this and does guitars and stuff. Will get his details, based in Glastonbury.

You can do it very simply with the liquid plating method and leave items in place on the guitar

You can shell out for the complete kit or get a bloke to come round to your home...
