The 12 string Rick-a-like is tempting as is the Jag with block inlays and bound neck!...if only i didn't have space issues they would be worth buying to mess around with!

Funny that - when I saw the 12 string Ric copy my first thought was that is likely to be the worst of them! My guess would be that keeping as basic as possible gives you the best chance of a playable guitar at those prices.

Got my eye on the 1 pickup archtop - http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_custom_line_manhattan_standard.htm
For £155 can't go wrong I don't think. But I've got too many guitars as it is ... :(

Just seen the Harley Benton "Playboy collectors pack",

    Baffling.

I'm not going to post the pictures here.

Also if the Paradise is the same as the Vintage it's about £50 less than anyone else is doing them for!

5 guitars with some free soft porn on the back for less than £800 - can only appreciate in value!

I think that 'Collector's Pack' may be the most surreal guitar-related link I've seen this week. Crumbs.

EDIT - Good Lord, you can buy them individually too.

The Playboy collection looks like a very German thing. Titty mags everywhere, titty ads on TV all the time.

I don't see that as a collectors item as interior decor for a man-cave or in a certain kind of establishment that's a bargain... :-)

It's on the back though so it wouldn't even look good up on a wall (assuming you like soft core porn on your walls)

That depends which way round you hang them.

And no, I wouldn't have them on my walls (not that I'm prudish, but if I have stuff on my walls it's going to be something with a bit more artistic value than Playboy...) but I've seen worse, sometimes even in what are nominally public spaces... :-)

    Hmmm.

Playboy = Hugh Hefner, he was with Barbie Benton, now we have Harley Benton guitars.

Is Hef a luthier as well as a lothario?

That looks sweet .I just got a Harley Benton  TE-40 in black .it was fantastic for  twice the price and this one looks better .Sadly I sold it on as I had a Trohman coming and two guitars in the same week blew my lady wifes mind .I will mentally book mark the TE90 as it looks great .The Wilky P90's sound good as well as I had them in another HB .

  • Am I the only person who thinks these look cack? Apart from maybe the Mosrite, because that's kinda meant to be cack.

In regards to the playboy guitars, I am baffled as to why the image is on the back?? can't see it hanging up, and playing live it  looks like a cheap generic LP copy, is the main idea of it to pretend you're getting a blowie when you're playing it???

  • Great stuff for new folk looking to see if electric guitars are the instrument for them.

Other side of that is iv had a fair few of the cheaper brands hoping they are as good as the pics online but rarely do they truly deliver what i really want.

Once the buzz is over of the new cheap guitar it generally is what it is, just a cheap guitar made to look very nice.

Yes they play and sound ok but i soon get bored and want something "proper" as it were. :-/
