R2 playing GnR mid-morning?

What is going on ??

R2 isn't my normal channel-of-choice, but I happened to flick by on the presets, and it's playing Sweet Child o Mine.  At 11.40 on a Monday morning?

Is this some sort of parallel universe thing happening?

I can imagine my poor mother (and dedicated, there-is-no-other-station-on-the-radio, R2 listener-for-ever) having a fit ...

its been playing predominantly  '70's 80s and 90s stuff for years

seems to be aimed at  30/40/50 somethings now..........

They played The Ramones on the breakfast show the other morning...I think it was during a Bob Geldof interview so one of his choices.

It's not uncommon.  You get all sorts on their now, and in a good way.  Even though they do have a playlist, currently featuring MSP, Jessie J, and KoL, there is actually a fair spread of music. More importantly they do not heavily rotate the songs so that you get the same tunes through every daytime show.

I just remember R2 (not fondly) as being what my parents used to listen to ... and I'd avoid in any way possible.  And I've been avoiding it ever since with one or two rare exceptions or accidents.

Mind, I suppose they would have been 40/50 somethings at the time.  Wonder what they're listening to nowadays.

My parents still listen to r2 , they really like Steve Wright!

R2 plays about 3 ACDC songs a day. Whilst the majority of the play list is dross they do play classics. Doctor Mosh always plays amazing tunes too.
