This will be my first attempt at modifying a guitar... and its more of a salvage than a mod.
I've rediscovered my old strat-o-like in my parents house.
I THINK it was a Jim Deacon, but in my youthful exuberance I sanded the logo off the headstock leaving a light patch of bare wood- the rest has a clear satin finish.
It's a maple neck, my plan is to remove the hardware and sand the rest of the head down till the face is an even finish of bare wood, then use progressively fine grades of paper to get it totally smooth.
My question is what to do next? I'm not really DIY savvy, so the easier the better.. from various threads I think oiling the wood would be within my skill range. (And would hopefully look nice).
Any tips?
