Track opinion wanted

Evening all, 

I'm a lead player trying to put a simple demo tracks together. Here's the first one,  was hoping for some opinions before doing more.

This is a jamtrackcentral backing track I've written a lead part for.

Any opinions or constructive criticism for improvements are welcome

Tone needs to be a bit warmer for me, tidy playing though, more practice will get it all a bit more fluid.

What would you change about the sound? Less top end?

Well, only my opinion, I just prefer these sort of things to have a smoother overdrive sound, so yes probably less top end, I wouldn't say anything was right or wrong.

 May try reamping to try some different tones in the mix. But would need some more kit to try it I think.

i actually quite like the tone choice. got kind an old skool bluesy vibe about it. my only comment would be a touch less gain but thats purely personal taste.

the solo itself its catchy as all hell! which is incredibly difficult to get right and not be cheesy so top marks on that. the only "weak" point for me is that some of the bendy bits are a touch out of tune, nothing majorly though just some constructive criticism for you to work on.

you could quite easily turn this "solo" piece into a riff/motif, expand the track with some decent words (verse, chorus) and explore the middle solo section a bit more and i reckon you'd have a properly nice little track on your hands

or instead of a harmony maybe a call and response part? Maybe cut back the main line and come up with another guitar doing a response. for some reason I'm thinking maybe some tasty acoustic licks

Agree about the gain thing Ben A little less would probably be a good idea. Will practice the bends a little more. Was trying the major/minor third thing. 

Good call on the harmony, but will keep it simple. Just so I can't get accused of too much guitar. Call response sounds good! 

This was the scratch track to get the melody right. Was thinking of varying the motif slightly each time around. Will bear what you guys have said for the next take of it.

its nice to get opinions off people from the internet but its always wise to trust your own musical sensibilities. You've got great taste and by this evidence a great ear for a simple, catchy guitar hook. Thats a GREAT skill and if you work on that then you can't go far wrong.
