I think all the stuff in the book is on the CD, but I haven't listened to it in ages.

It's definitely one of the best guitar books I've ever read.

@hootsmon I don't think a lot of the "boring" shape-based stuff is, actually.

I would agree, and I'm not a fan of his music.

    Seems my recollection was wrong!

Found this on a google image search for [creative guitar 1 cd contents]:

    http://video-aulas-down.blogspot.de/2012/01/guthrie-govan-creative-guitar-1-cutting.html

I can't consult my copy at the moment, but I think it's some of the chromatic/atonal finger exercises that aren't on the CD.

I've never done enough with the exercises his books to get much out of them, unfortunately, but the longer "essays" on technique and other guitar matters are great.

^ DLM...that look as though the scale exercises at the beginning of the book are indeed demonstrated  on the CD

He starts the CD with the minor pentatonic shapes from Example 13.

It turns out my copies of the CD were with my CDs, not with my books and magazines, which are less accessible.

  • I wasn't a fan of this book. Its all stuff I was already doing with just a little bit of thought about it all.

In essence it is; play stuff you dont usually play to strengthen/improve yourself.

    Save yourself £10-£15
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

I would also recommend fretboard Navigator Volume 2. Jamie Humphries (Lick library) for your scales. He goes through the Pentatonic scales,Major scale, includes modes and backing track its ace and will help you open up the fretboard so you view the whole board as a scale and not just  box shapes.

Volume 1 covers the Caged maj and min.
