Which demo vids made YOU buy a pedal?!

What's Hot

Which demo videos on YouTube or otherwise made you pull the trigger on a pedal purchase without ever either hearing it in real non-digital life first or playing one?

And how did it turn out for you?

In no particular order:

Prymaxe BB Preamp video. Bought it, loved it, still my go to stomp.

Random Scottish guys demo of a Tech 21 Liverpool. Just had to hav it for shits and giggles

I'm sure there's more but that's a start. I tend to go with the theory that if I can hear a sound I want on one video, one time, out of how many ever other bad demos then I'll be able to find that sound in that box because it must exist in there somewhere!

I was watching some recommended videos on Youtube in the background and this video came on automatically. I jumped up to see what it was as it was the nicest tone I've heard from Mike Hermans (who is a beast for good tones). Had to get one immediately. It's just as good as the demo suggests. Love it.

This one made me think I wanted a Wampler Velvet

Then this one made me certain

Again was a sound choice, love it!

    Hardwire Supernatural
    TC Electronic Trinity
    TC Electronic Alter Ego
    TC Electronic Alter Ego X4
    Lovepedal Kalamazoo
    Lovepedal OD11

I've had to stop watching that guy!

0:40 and 2:40 made me think I wanted this:

Then this sealed the deal, must be one of the most gorgeous clean tones I've ever heard:

I now own one and can get all those sounds from it.

Just the introduction to this made me sure that I needed a Nobels ODR-1:

And it was a good call. Love mine.

    Then this:

    Yet again, brilliant.

And this. Must be one of the most relaxing demo videos ever, you could fall into a trance listening to it and watching the tap LED blink.

Now I'm looking for one of these:

    Maybe I have a problem...

Yeah, they're making me want those pedals.

That custom modified OD sounds excellent - just the right amount of middiness, but open enough for a nice rhythm sound.  Really, really nice!

Mike Hermans on pretty much any pedal makes me want it. The Mobius was a winner!

The Modified OD is properly brilliant, it absolutely sings for solos and the bass control is really well voiced for fattening stuff up. I've found a lot of OD pedal bass controls make the pedal go from wimpy to horribly boxy.

It definitely has a very particular sound which is sweet and singing. It doesn't do anything nasty or fizzy.

I've got a Euphoria in the post so it's going to have it's work cut out seeing that off.

This was too close to call so I decided to spend my £27 and get the Dano! Turned out to be actually BETTER than in this vid!

  • I bought one of the Fender Delay pedals on the back of a GAK video.

Probably not the best delay pedal out there, but works for me. Good value for money and achieves the sound I wanted.

Holy shit balls that sounds good.

I kinda want to get an SL drive to stick in the loop with my BB to acheive the same sort of thing but that has it bailed already!
