If you add the recent uploads to gigs playlist, just link to the 2014-09 playlist??

  • Yeah can do that when I get a bit more computer power, I struggled just to upload those extra tracks. Will try and do it tonight.

Even tougher to pick a top 3 this month I reckon. I've tried to focus on which riffs I like best rather than just which clips I like listening to best:

Axemanrio - InTheEnd - 5 points - the linking notes reminded me a bit of Ty Tabor
PolarityMan - Threefour - 3 points - absolutely crushing riff - was in 2 minds whether I'd think the same if the track was less well recorded, but I reckon that riff with that tone would still sound huge in isolation
Vibetronic - CEVarg1 - 1 point - both riffs were cool in different ways

Great variety of ideas in the others too.

Thanks again to Antique_Guitars & TTony for organising.

  • Phew! 14 riffs in 6½ minutes! With the help of a pen and paper and a couple of re-listens my votes are ...,

    1st  Bucket
    2nd Horse
    3rd  Antique_Guitars

  • My votes are:

1st: Digital Scream - really like this sort of vaguely proggy but mellow stuff. I could imagine my band playing something like this :D

2nd. Horse - this just has so much attitude it's ridiculous

Third place was a difficult one for me as I had 2 candidates which I thought weren't quite perfect but had heaps of potential. One was Vivetronic which I think would groove so hard if reined in about 15bpm or so the other was Axemanrio which was let down a little by low volume and lack of a bass part.

In the end I think Axemarino jsut edged it though.

    1st. Antique_Guitars
    2nd  DigitalScream
    3rd. Svejk

Main thing that I liked was that we got more entries this month than last month.  And the range of styles.  I'm clearly in a mellow mood today.

So hard to choose.  Lots of different styles...

    @Axemanrio - just love it
@TTony - nice like the mix, sort of anthemic
@Svek - nice and grungy, low fi in a good way

Props to all the others too  :)

  • Missed this one this time round. Not got time to do major comments (just leaving) so here's my vote - loved all of them as usual.. seriously, some of these were really kick-ass!!

    1) Antique Guitars (yes, somebody else who likes raw guitar, and a great acoustic sound - what guitar is it?)
    2) Horse - in your face!
    3) Axemanrio - f*** yeah!

My first time voting here and it's not easy.  There are at least 5 great riffs I'd give 5 points to, but as I need to pick three I chose the most memorable ones that were stuck in my head over the last couple of days.

  • Some people have asked what acoustic guitar I used, well I have just checked and its a YamahaFG 441S kind of dreadnought thing that was given to me. I'm not sure but its about £200 worth of guitar so an entryish level instrument. The action is a little high but it sounds ok other than the bass which is a bit weak and woolly.

  • Crikey - goes to show, don't need to buy a £5k guitar to sound good!
