Well, it's covered in tape. That's my guess.

People on TGP are speculating about Flanging and other effects as well.  Apparently the original way to get flanging was with reel to reel tape decks.

They seem to have been dropping a few hints:

Whatever it is, you have to admit their marketing is very good!

Judging by the Blog entries I think it's an ADT /Les Paul type of thing

  • I reckon it's going to be an expression controllable synth pedal, with several programmable parameters and compatible with guitar and bass to give anything from old school envelope filters to dub step wub wub and many other sounds.

Or, probably just a flanger/phaser/chorus modelling pedal.

I'd prefer the first one though.

if you look at their preset of the day type blog posts, %90 of them have been about how to get tape flanger effects on the timeline/Mobius, I wonder if this does it in a stand alone unit. although 4 jack sockets, 1 x input 2 x output 1 x control ?

  • Tremolo/vibrato pedal?

I can see a wobble dial
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

that would be amazing, as I'd love a flint without the reverb

I'm guessing its two tape decks (two bypass buttons) with one tape deck being a kind of saturated/boost one with appropriate controls, and the second being one which lags behind the first allowing for tape flange/ phaser ( which is what the "invert" switch would do, I'm pretty sure thats how the orignal phase effect came about) chorus and slapback.

Maybe a bit fiddly for for guitarists, but I think keybaord players would get a kick out of it.

I'm going to guess it's a tape loop simulation.

Does the world need another looper?

As a non loop player, this is a genuine question. There are loads around, and they all sound good, from the boss loop station to the TC ditto to the alexis headrush...
