How long before all the others copy the sneaky extra wing at the back of the shark fin on the Ferrari? Looks horrible but must be a loophole in the aero regs they think is worth exploiting. I vaguely remember McLaren having something similar back in the '90s and it didn't last.

I'm glad the rear wings are lower again. Not a fan of the wide side skirts or fins though. I like the simplicity of the Williams decoration

  • That little wing that Merc and Ferrari have is literally a 50mm loophole - they changed one number in the regs and should've changed another but didn't notice. I'm surprised more teams haven't tried something but I guess they can in testing quite easily. I'll actually be fairly surprised if they don't get banned before Melbourne.

As for Williams, they've released pictures of an actual car today and their new sharkfin finally makes the most of that livery. MUCH better :)

That extra 20cm really changes it?  ;)

The extra wing on the Mercedes is hilarious to be honest.  It's kind of like what a child might make when asked to build a f1 wing from memory.

That extra winglet is all about increasing the flow over the main element, I'll bet it's actually very effective

  • Martini on Lancias, Rothmans on Porsches. That's how things should be :)

The way McLaren are going, they'll be sponsored by fucking Lambrini.

Not very keen on the shark-fin thingy - have they all got them?

  • Pretty much all teams running a fin so far - only Merc without one. Though I imagine the shape and size of those will be played with in testing by at least some of the teams.  It's a shame as the cars would really look much nicer without, and most aren't even using them for sponsorship.

On the plus side, the Mclaren actually looks half decent on track. Better than the PR shots at least. I think if they just darkened the orange a smidge and added some pearl or metallic it'd look quite nice.

Pre-Season McMaren's have historically been painted orange for testing

    RB13...

EDIT: looks way underdeveloped, so I'm guessing the actual race car will be very different aero-wise... We'll see tomorrow I guess.

Who's left? Just Toro Rosso and Haas?

  • Toro Rosso in new livery shocker! If nothing else, *that* is the space-age looking thing we were promised from these new regs..

  • So we've gone from a mostly black & silver grid to a mostly blue and orange one. Still, while I'm not sure I like this in the abstract, I love that it exists. And I'm very glad they will finally be distinguishable from the main Red Bulls at a distance.

When's the first race? 4 weeks?
