Correction: Actually, I meant to say that the average speed around the Monaco circuit is around 80 Mph, which is much lower than the fastest lap there for modern era cars.

Monaco is only on the calendar as it is good for the team sponsors - billionaires in yachts. They should have water sprays on so the track is wet .. a deliberately wet race would be interesting.

Indy stream here. There was a REALLY big crash a few laps ago. 'Nando still doing well. I'll grant that they only turn left, but these guys have some serious balls.

I think the car-arses are big to contain the balls (and egos) of the drivers. Not forgetting that they're all carrying a hulking great V8

Fastest lap nearly 225 mph ... Alonso won't want to go back to McLaren .. it will be like drivig a Honda Jazz ... :-)

V6 not V8.

The cars are quite big so that they're stable and the rears look big because of the part enclosure of the rear wheels which is more like a LMP than open-wheeler.

Gutted. His last couple of laps were looking great. He managed at least 4 times as many laps as he'd have got in Monaco.

Yeah, I don't like the way that looks. Same with the front wheels on the formula e cars, it's not properly open wheel
