So, I got me a new guitar!

Had to flog a few to get it but here we go!

Gibson Les Paul R7 2010 model. Weighs a wonderful 8.92 pounds. Phil X reckons that's the perferct Les Paul weight. I'd probably agree. I've not had as much time as I'd like with it yet but will hopefully get a few hours in this weekend.

I got this from Coda in Stevenage. Doug was very good putting up with my various queries about various Les Pauls's they had in stock and was very accommodating when it came to actually buying the guitar. 5* customer service! I would certainly recommend them. It's a secondhand item and it's in excellent condition. Bargain at only £1,899.

It's been a fair few months since I've had a new guitar so I decided to mess with the minds of the facebook masses. Especially my sisters. Over the course of an evening, me, my girlfriend and a couple of friends ( @koss59 and @samldr1984 ) started putting various status updates such as...

Obviously most of my best mates knew what the score was, however, none of them gave up the game. Suddenly loads of people I've not spoken to in years started liking my statues, commenting on stuff and sending messages. One of my 3 sisters sent me 5 messages in the space of about 30 minutes. One saying "I bet it's the pitter patter of little feet". Ha! My evil plan was working.

Both my girlfriend and I get the 'You'll be next' treatment and weddings and child births making this all the sweeter!

Needless to say, I'm wasn't overly popular with my sisters and most people have gone back to ignoring me on the social network. It was amuzing whilst it lasted though.

I'll update this thread in the near future with a video review type effort. The in a nutshell version is it's extremely resonant and the custombuckers sound great. One of the 'good ones'.

Ha, reminds me of when our bassist was expecting a child and also amp shopping.

I've played this very guitar. It is indeed a lovely Lester! Funnily enough my friend was literally seconds from buying it. Instead I walked out with a '58!

How strange! I was considering a '58 but was already pushing the boat out at this price.

I assume you played it in the shop? Got any pics of the '58?
