Another small hander here. You just 'get there' in the end. Your fingers don't grow! I guess you learn to use the muscles differently and they become more supple.

Try stretching exercise. If you don't know any then try playing Message in a Bottle and Every Breath You Take. Two decent songs to add to your repertoire and two that introduce a bit more stretching than a lot of other songs.

Good luck - it gets easier.

Obviously everyone has limitations but hand size shouldn't be a major factor.

To be fair, I find a lot of this to be about thumb position, I don't reckon I have massive hands or anything like that but certain left hand posture is the key.

A lot of it is down to the neck size, I used to play a p-bass as a stubby fingered teenager and then I got a warwick corvette and my bass playing improved overnight.

Neck size and set up has a lot to do with it, practice does go a long way too though.

Both Michael Romeo and Shawn Lane have/had small hands. Didn't stop them one bit. Only some of the more exotic chord voicings are harder.

I have a shattered pinky on my left hand which makes it curve in the way so I struggle for big stretches

You find ways to compensate though
