New Hiscox Case... uh... year.

What's Hot

I bought a Hiscox case a couple of months ago.

It's good. In fact, it's really good. It's about as good as you could want a case to be whilst weighing basically nothing. There's a picture on the Hiscox site of people standing on the case. I did that. I am heavy. The case neither flinched or flexed.

Good case. FIVE STARS yes.

If you need a case for your nice guitar, these are good ones.

That was me doing a review. I hope it was informative.

I'm with you all the way there chap. Excellent all purpose cases. I've two. Need another two.

I have 3, I think. Or 4, possibly. Yup, think it's 4. I'd have more if they did one for the 339/336 shape

Need one more Tele case, and one for a Telemaster thing, so I'd imagine an offset case would cover it?

I should think so - that's their Jaguar case (STD-EJAG). It's a snug fit around the top strap button, but not a problem.
It's a 25" neck too, but there's a good 1/2" of clearance above the headstock.

They're brilliant. I have a 17 year old LP case and it's as good as the day I bought it.

More years ago than I care to remember, not long after I'd just bought a 1971 Martin D12-35 and a brand new Hiscox case for it, I was somewhat the worse for beer and decided to demonstrate to a friend the famous "12 stone nutter standing on the lid" advert they used to put in the guitar magazines. With the guitar inside, of course. I think I even bounced up and down on it a bit… although luckily, I am a fair bit less than 12 stone.

I still have the case and the (undamaged) Martin.

Hiscox are indeed tremendous, still made in the UK (just down the road from where I grew up, actually!) and the best light / medium-weight cases money can buy. I've told this story before, but I've got a Hiscox that's been around the world with me, stickered to hell with all the places I've been so it's got tremendous sentimental value; when I changed guitar I took it to them and the re-padded it to better suit my new one as well as tweaking / tightening the clasps and aluminium edgy-bits as needed.

They had the cheek to try and charge me nothing for it as well, I felt obliged to force a tenner into the guy's top pocket. Amazing service and lovely people.

  • I've got a silver lined one too, and I love it! It's my first hard case, and it fits my guitar so well, and I feel totally safe when I travel on buses or take it places!!

  • My next hard case will be a Hiscox... or maybe another SKB.
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

    Make it the Hiscox.

My experience with SKBs is that they're nowhere near as robust despite looking superficially similar. They're also noticeably heavier.

  • I've had a Hiscox case for 20 years or something and they are amazingly robust. The only damage done was when I leant it against a gas fire (when empty) and it blistered. So don't do that.

    A Relic Hiscox case!

How much do you want for it?
