anyone write their own acoustic songs?

Looking to hear any stuff people have done as I'm looking for inspiration to start doing my own stuff. Need to try and pull myself out of a rut so I figured this might help me focus on something positive.

I write songs ON an acoustic guitar which usually end up as full band songs, I don't know if that counts?

If you are looking for inspiration then try some alternate tunings.. they really open up the sonic quality of acoustic guitars. One of my all time favourites is EADGAD, it produces some really sonorous close note voicings.

If I'm stuck in a rut I tend to try to "find" new chords that sound cool. If I find a couple of strange ones maybe with dissonances or droning strings, I'll go between them just freewheeling and try to find melodies that'd link them. Sometimes it leads to something a bit different. But the key is often in trying to avoid the usual open chords, then once I've got something a bit strange going on when you DO go to that D major or whatever it sounds like a powerful transition.
