Do you mean the 16g copper wire that was the common technique used in valved hi-fi amps?
If so and you don't want to buy a whole roll of wire for one amp, buy (or beg) a metre or so of high grade TV downlead and strip that out.
However, guitar amplifiers do not seem to use the same grounding system as hi fi amps so I am not sure this helps!

Ampmaker sells a tinned copper wire, 20SWG I think. I used it in an AC4 build and others. It's easy to work with and solder components to. It's all of 30p per meter.

20swg is a bit thin, 16swg was always the "hi fi" size but I dare say it will work just as well!
Another source occurs! 2.5mm ring mains cable...WHO hasn't got a spare metre or three of that in the loft???
