A friend of a colleague said a couple of weeks ago "I've got a guitar lying around that I never use, I'll bring it over for you."

I thought nothing of it really, but here we are. When he arrived I thought it was going to be a loan or the start of a sales pitch, but no:

    A free guitar :D

Could go one of two ways - Squier Hello Kitty or 1980s Jackson.

    True.

    Not a Squier or Jackson.

The chap in question said, "I never play it and you're really good[1] so you may as well have it".

HM Strat, 80s Kramer or Charvel would be my 'Hubobulous casts his net wide to try to snare the answer without committing to one option' guess

I'm going for either an ibanez or a Marlin Sidewinder.

Wait, it's  not the 'Hannah Montana' Guitar is it?

    :)

  • MIJ Fender or a charvel of some sorts?
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Is it a pink Strat-shaped guitar with a black scratchplate?

Does this qualify as a guess, or is it stating the bleeding obvious?!

With that level of deduction and intuition, you will surely go far. No need for any other responses would be my take on this thread now ;-)

    :D

Less exotic than most of the guesses, but better than a Hannah Montana guitar:

    A Westfield with a curiously F-type headstock shape :)
