And therein lies the problem... so many of the great amps are only usable at very loud volumes...

Did anyone watch the speaker video I posted above ? He mentions playing the Grand Old Opry and how quiet you have to have your amps. I saw a show there in September and the onstage sound is low so those speaker attenuatators  must work for him

  • Yeah Brad Paisley is my guitar hero. If you want to hear him playing a mind blowing 'rhythm' whilst singing listen to Mr Policeman.

At the age of 14 he wrote Born on Christmas Day. It is on his Xmas album and he duets with his younger self.

Lovely tone and very nice but IMHO not what I would describe as great playing (at least not in that vid). Some of the best guitar players in the world are country players. But if you want hear a stunningly fantastic country player that can do pretty much any style check out Johnny Hiland with fingers so chubby you'd think its impossible he could play like that. And how he makes a standard guitar sound like a B-Bender goodness knows! Now, that's what I call a great guitar player!

I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

Hiland,Paisley,Doyle Dykes,Albert Lee,Red Volkaert,Brent Mason , Jerry Donaghue,Forrest Lee jnr Vince Gill etc etc - The talent in the country music world is awesome
These are some of the best known names -all phenomenal
BUT ;what is even more worrying is that you could spend 3 evenings touring the Nashville Honky Tonks and hear another 30 or 40 nameless and faceless session guys /small band players cooking it up just as good
The whole country scene is flooded with guitar talent......a bit of compression and slapback at most leaves the quality of the playing very naked and exposed - to sound good that clean and that fast is no mean feat
