My friend is a guitar tech for The Alarm, on their last US tour they didn't lose money, but only those getting a wage (techs) 'made' money.  The musicians kinda broke even I think

It's worrying because I thought touring was a way bands can make money, seeing as labels seem to take CD sales... which aren't selling any more.

Still, credit to them for losing money to put on a great show.  Music comes first, I respect that

Cheers for that interesting read-losing money is bad but they wouldn't have had they not hired extra people.

Hats off for them for wanting to put on a great show-they're 'lucky' to be able to do that due to their other incomes-a thank you to fans.

I had also never heard of them but obviously they have a following to sell that many tickets-they are living many people's dreams. Fair play to them.

I guess this is where something like an actual 5 piece band can save money/debt compared to these guys. Each member has a 20% investment in the future of the band and would be more lilkey take less/no wage from it as long as it lifts the band to that next level.
