I can't think of any, but they must live somewhere! I know Chris Jagger has a place down the road.

I think Adrian Smith lives about 10-15 minutes' drive away.

Not a guitarist but Ozzy Osbourne used to live about five minutes up the road too.

Pete Townshend lives in the finest house in Richmond, The Wick at the top of Richmond Hill.

If you can call him a guitarist, Mick Jagger I think still has a flat in just down on Richmond Hill.

Ronnie Wood used to live in a VERY fine Victorian manor which backed onto Richmond Park.

(Old rockers don't die, they just retire to Richmond...)

Ralph McTell lives in Putney and I've seen him going down the High Street there a few times.

I've seen Scott Gorham getting into his Mustang outside his house in Putney.

I just saw Bill Nighy in Richmond town centre talking on his mobile and sounding very confused, but then I don't think he lives locally and he doesn't play the guitar...

Edit: just remembered that Richard Ashcroft (not sure he's much of a guitarist) lives in Richmond too. I once saw him almost knocked over by a cyclist at a pedestrian crossing...

Trevor Burton from The Move lives down Alcester-way somewhere, ten or fifteen miles south of Birmingham. And there was a guy who I was jamming on acoustics in a beer garden in Mosley with once who was apparently the guitarist for The Beat.

'Tis true. And I believe that Wood bought it from the actor John Mills.

Originally it was built as the 'country retreat' of the artist Sir Joshua Reynolds in the late 1700's.

Some of the best views in all London are to be had from there.

  • Steve Craddock of Ocean Colour Scene lives somewhere nearby. I was in the queue behind him at the petrol station in Harborne many moons ago.

It's just a shame I can't stand his band or his playing..:(

I saw Dave Hill of Slade in HMV in Merry Hill once.

Kensington isn't really near me, but Jimmy Page has a house round the back of the High St, called the Tower House, which is a Grade I listed building and was designed by William Burges.

Graham Oliver, out of Saxon, lives not far away..
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

As did another of the coolest guys then - George Harrison.

Jannick Gers lives near me; never did go for that drink with him.

I'm not far from Brighton and I guess a few live down there.

Also not far away fro the Ashdown Forest and I know a few minted dudes live over that way.

The Cure lived over that way (not all in the same house, that would be silly!) for a long time.

There was a pub on the A22 in Nutley called the "Shelly Arms" and all the local superstars used to play there under false names, usually trying new songs or albums out on unsuspecting members of the public. Rumour has it Dire Straits, Clapton, The Cure and other 70's & 80's names played there "in disguise".

Been closed for years now though :(
