Chrome has too much of the Google Big Brother syndrome about it. I don't like that way the company stores your browsing history.

they do what now? Even stuff you open in a ingocnito window? This is not good news. Not good news at all.

No, porn mode is safe ;) In normal mode, all of your history, extensions, browser config etc gets stored in your Google profile (assuming you're logged in to Chrome with it). That way, you can log in to any Chrome browser on any computer and it'll look and behave exactly like the one on your computer.

  • mmh... You can turn that nuthafucking thing off, and revert back to how it was :)

Type Chrome://flags in the browser bar, and scroll down to the option:

Enable Instant Extended API Mac, Windows, Chrome OS
Enables the Instant Extended API which provides a deeper integration with your default search provider, including a renovated New Tab Page, extracting search query terms in the omnibox, a spruced-up omnibox dropdown and Instant previews of search results as you type in the omnibox.

And set it to disabled >:)

If you like Chrome, then there's always Chromium - the open source version, with all the Googley-eyes stripped out.
Weird thing is signing in to chromium on my linux machine syncs all my gubbins from chrome on my home pcs. I see this as a useful but just cos its open source doesnt mean google dont end up owning all your datas anyway.

Well, yes - in that case, you're explicitly saying that you want it to sync your stuff with your Google account. Chrome does other stuff under the bonnet, whereas Chromium doesn't.

Chrome just updated and I can't see the option anymore.

Has it gone or am I blind?
