Corrosion of Conformity

Had a Corrosion of Conformity track randomly come on spotify yesterday and really liked it. Quite stonerish riff, plenty of groove.  I vaguely remember these guys from the 90s but wasn't into that kinda thing then.

So where do I start listening wise? Any reccomended albums?

Deliverance and blind are their best albums.
    Wiseblood is killer too.

Blind had Karl Agel singing rather than Pepper and still had some thrashy riffs hanging over from their crossover era records

In the arms of god has a different drummer -Stanton Moore - and is killer too.

I think the track that came on last night was off deliverance based on looking at the album art. All those vids will be getting a spin later on!

Deliverance is their best, imo. We used to cover 'Clean my Wounds' back in the day, good chance to try the harmoniser on the Whammy for the solo.

How strange.  Before I saw this thread I was humming one of COC's riffs in my head this earlier this morning. Weird.

Anyway, I quite like America's Volume Dealer. Plenty of awesome riffs.

  • Some of the vocals, particularly on that last video (americas volume dealer whole album) really remind me of soil

  • I rather enjoy Southern Fried Metal. Corrosion, Sword, Alabama thunderpussy, Pantera, Down and especially Maylene and the Sons of Disaster.

Played a few times with alabama thunderpussy with my old band. Great with both Johnny and Kyle singing.
Solace and Bible of the Devil are very good if you like that kind of thing.

CoC were cool...as said before Deliverance is a great album.

As for Southern steel...this is a cool documentary:

Another vote for Blind. When the riff from 'Vote with a bullet' kicks in...

Blimey, talk about a thread from the dead....

I'm not crazy bout the couple of tracks I've heard from the new album, but fingers crossed.

New album's out (and on Spotify).... and it's pretty good.  I wasn't sure about the first few tracks, it plods a bit at times, but I think it'll grow on me.  Probably shouldn't even be commenting after only one listen.

  • Yeah pretty good....songs seem a bit busy with a lot going on, think it will need a few listens.

  • Not perfect but it’s a grower and gets better with each listen. Heavier and more sabbathy than the 90’s stuff. So many great riffs and Pepper and Woody’s leads are wicked.
