Advice on theory to help my guitar playing

I'm going away for 3 weeks holiday, taking a guitar with me. I've played in bands for years, I'm no beginner, but I am a beginner when it comes to music theory.
What I'd like is to make use of my time learning some theory whilst I'm noodling away. Any suggestions for books to take with me? Nothing too demanding, I want to be able to enjoy it or I'll end up putting the book down! CAGED stuff, chord theory, that sort of stuff? Also I need to be able to buy the book this week!

I used to set myself a project for things like this...like maybe learn the mode names of the melodic minor scale ....pe intervals of the maj scale modes......or maybe visualising intervals on the fret board.....just usually one topic though and learn it well....a good book is the jazz theory book by mark Levine.....all sorts of info in there....

  • Go with something on caged if you want to apply music theory to the guitar.

Bill Edwards fretboard logic is a good place to start. Music theory then onto caged
