A 2015 mod a Harley Benton guitar challenge?

Indeed, I'm not much of a modder but await with interest the first impressions of these guitars and how they rate compared to more established budget brands (squier, epiphone, vintage etc.). If the general consesus is positive I could be very tempted by some of these models.

I'm thinking of doing the natural Tele shape: stripped of nasty poly, oiled finish throughout. Brass bridge, reshape & relogo on the headstock. Possibly a pick guard made out of an old LP (I have a copy of "The River" that's unplayable due to a scratch) Slight relicing IF I can work out how to achieve it… going for a Springsteen style Born To Run tele vibe.

I've just written 4 Thomann reviews, including a 200 word field report on a pack of velcro cable ties - every little helps!

I think our guitars may and up similar @stimpsonslostson , I'm looking at doing Keef's Micawber Tele.

my 2 have just been posted.

if they come back with 50% discount I will be gutted.  If its 10% its not really an issue.  if its nothing, well, i guess we be writing a lot of reviews for vouchers

There's no great rush really - other than everyone wanting an excuse to buy a new (cheap) guitar!  We said we'd run the challenge until well into the summer, so it'd be more of an on-going 2015 thing really.

I'm a little reluctant to give Thomann all the publicity and (I'm making a big assumption here) positive comment about their HB stuff without some form of recognition from them.  If we've got 20+ forum threads all posting pics and lots of comment about HB, that's going to get noticed by the big Gee.
