Fretboard Task 3 October 2013

What's Hot

Riff-o-matic: try and come up with something with a strong riff, or riffs. Let's see if we can get the next Black Dog, So What, Seven Nation Army or, god forbid, Sm*k* *n t*e W*t*r.

Let's see who can come up with a cool riff .... :-)

  • I think I recorded something on my four track, way back in the day.  I'll see if I can dig it out.

I tried inserting a widget, but I don't think it worked, so I've just embedded the URL. I'm not much of a riffer, and much less a drummer, but anyways, here goes...

    Sounds like Nuno - awesome!

@Lodius great riff ... now make a song out of it. It ends too soon .. :-)

hmmmm discovered It's quite hard to come up with original riffs!  At least for me it is and I think I need a real drummer to jam with.  Couldn't get anything going with my loops or garageband dice shaker.... Should have used some distortion as well.... Anyway here's three short cheesy ones

Love them octa - love the way you make full use of effects yet still have a raw, "kick arse" sound; and I alos like they way you break out of the traditional even number of lines per section system, like your first intro riff in the first one happens 3 times. Great.

Some good stuff so far, particularly like @Lodious amd @Octatonic

I'll cheat for now and post a short clip from around 18 months ago when I first got my (since moved on!) PRS McCarty.

Will try and have a go at a "from scratch" effort at the weekend.

So you used to be nice but now you're handsome? Great grungy riff btw and Stickster I loved yours, especially Space - reminded me a little of Skeletal Family and the lovely stan greenwood.

Seeing as there's little love for the Persian Scale (4th mode) and everyone else is cheating, here's one I prepared earlier. Actually the riff's not mine, it's Jonno Stanford's. There's a little guitar solo in the middle too ;)

How do you get soundcloud to work?

Edit - ah, you have to actually save your upload.

@dindude nice stuff.  Reminds me a bit of electric gypsy by Andy Timmons.
