Just bought a nice '71 SG Standard...

What's Hot
I think the price was extremely reasonable so couldn't resist! Seller told me that there are no headstock or heel repairs/issues so it seems the only change is the stop tail holes. We'll see when it arrives!! http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=171673726632

Nice.  SG's are one of those guitars that everyone should own at least once.
This is not an official response.

"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)

SGs. The only Gibsons I've ever got on with, apart from their acoustics.

Very nice. Fair play for taking a punt - the sellers location would have made me weary. I'm sure it's fine though.

    Great price as well.

  • From the dark colour under the volute I think it might have had a break repaired.

Also the stop tail piece was probably a modification, before the Maestro was put back on.

yeah that's what I thought but the seller assures me it's not a break and in picture 4 you can see it's not as dark in that area. The stop tail mounts are definitely a mod as you point out, don't mind that really, makes it a more versatile instrument for a player.

  • It could be the lighting but the logo looks a bit skew and not very pearly.

The guitar is genuine though, I'm sure.

    A very late batwing Sg!

I have seen many of these Not-Norlin Norlins and in my opinion they are not Norlins. A very good punt at the price shown (or less).

I agree, all the looks and features of the late 60's SG's without the price tag.

That 78 Tele is a stunner mate, love the natural wear. I'll certainly bear you in mind if the SG isn't for me.

    Good Score! Looks ace!

Looks like Officer Crabtree from 'Allo 'Allo wrote the description though.....

"The bridge look original but it's not 100% functional as someone made some moods in it"...

Looking forward to the NGD post. £1200 is as you say a great deal.

Batwing and Lyre says Weller to me. As a beginner 18 year old that's the guitar I wanted - I think his is a '68 IIRC.
