Bigsby B5 - tele vs Gibson?

Looking on Thomman, there are two Bigsby B5s,

one for Gibson:

and one for Tele:

They look pretty similar to me, what's the difference? The Tele one is almost £30 more.

A Tele 'kit' should come with a baseplate for the pickup and a Jazzmaster/Mustang style bridge.

  • I suppose the question is.....do you have a Tele or a Gibson?

Ahhh yes, that would explain it!

I was thinking of fitting one to a Tele, but I thought I'd do an old fashioned bodge-job on the bridge so don't require the extra gubbins.

Strange. In what sense are those kits? It says they have the Bigsby and 4 screws, and nothing else.

On the Bigsby website it only mentions one B5. But it does say about a B5T kit, that includes a vibrato, bridge and plate.

I suspect those two Thomann items may be exactly the same, but it's probably worth emailing them or phoning to ask.

  • The Tele one (B5T) will presumably come with the full kit, like this. God knows whether it actually does though.
