I saw them supporting Machine head a few years ago. Whilst I enjoyed seeing them live, I wouldn't run out to by their CD's.

Maybe @bucket would be the one to ask

Yeah, I like them. Their guitar sound is monstrous, really want a Boss HM-2 just so I can max every control and make it sound like that :D

Another good Swedish death metal band (from a couple of years later but with a roughly similar sound) is Necrophobic:

It's a fairly similar style but is played a little more cleanly and produced a little better, still quite raw-sounding by today's standards though. Their second album, Darkside, has more melodic elements to it. I actually discovered them after reading an interview with Seiji Kakuzaki, the frontman of a Japanese death metal band called Intestine Baalism (stupid name, awesome band) where he mentions Darkside as being one of his favourite albums. IB's music is quite influenced by the early Swedish death metal bands.

Left Hand Path is one of the greatest albums ever. Dismembers' s Like An Everflowing Stream is also essential.
Bucket. Its a mix of hm2 and ds1.

Like Rev says, LHP is a classic. I always confuse them with Enslaved - Wolverine Blues, anyone?

And it goes without saying that Entombed are a Million times better than Machine Head.

  • Listened to 2:48 and re-affirmed my original opinion.

Poor drums, poor production, poor song writing.
