What do you need to 'complete' your collection

As in, perhaps you have a Tele, Strat and LP.  To cover all bases or imagined ones, what is missing from your stable.

Mine is:

* A Ricky or clone

* A 12 String (could be the Ricky)

* A Yellow guitar.  Someone posted a picture of a yellow guitar recently.  I did not like the headstock but the colour was perfect.  Gotta get a 'yellow' one somewhere.

* A Self Built guitar.  This might be my opening for a yellow guitar or build something way off the planet.  You never know.

* A Gibson L5 clone.  I played a beaten up one several years ago and the "rounded" tone was simply amazing.  Not all that common so I am searching.  And hoping.

* A 'good' medium power head and cabinet.  I have been thinking about Orange in recent months.  I have had nothing but good experiences with Orange kit, to my eyes the look says that you mean business!!  Good a reason as any I suppose. My choice must play clean (as well as gritty) at reasonable volume.  I would love an Orange 4 * 12" cabinet but this would be difficult as my music room is not very large.  And it is already fairly full.....

So what do you need to complete your collection......

I would like a telecaster variant. White one with rosswood fretboard would be preferred.

the next thing i want is a esquire type tele - maple board

after that probably a Telemaster with 1 P90 - maple board

Then a Tele with wide range humbuckers - rosewood board

then i'm back to gibsons...V, Explorer, RD and a few more LPC's (white and some kind of burst)

probably a tobacco burst Yamaha SG in there somewhere too.

    then i'm done.

I've got a Les Paul, a Jnr, a Strat, a Tele and a Floyd loaded Super Strat...so next are:

    ES Les Paul with Bigsby
    ES335

Up until the show last weekend I would have had a PRS on that list, but after playing a load on the stand at the show they really didn't do anything for me, so that's killed my desire for those.

when Im bored on the train I write these lists to myself all the time, the last one reads

A Strat (prob an American Special)
    A R8
    A Gibson 335 or similar
    A Feline Lion
    A Sigma electro acoustic
A Fender Electric VII or a very good replica

But then if I get gigging again I'll probably buy an affordable back up guitar to whatever I use as my main axe, so that complicates it again

The only variation on the electric guitar I've never owned is one with P-90's.  I've either had or currently own pretty much everything else(including nylon string, steel string and 12 string acoustic guitars).  One day.

Something that does a full, mellow clean tone.

Something that sounds crisp, thick and tight played at high gain levels.

Something with a whammy bar that'll take major abuse and still come up smiling.

Problem is I'm a 'less is more' sort of bloke so I have no idea if I'd pack all that into one instrument.

You've just described my PRS CU24 Floyd to me, back off the gain & it cleans up nicely

  • Humbuckers: Check- Les Paul
P90: Check: SG Jr. (@Rocker a yellow one!)
    Single Coils: Check: telecaster
    Bass: Check: BassVI
Nice acoustic: Check: Parlour sized 12 string electro acoustic.

I'm done. i hanker after a "real" Gibson jr rather than the copy I have, but overall I'd say I've got it all covered.

    Tele/homebuild - yup
    Strat type - yup (lush)
    LP - yup
    Firebird - yup
SG - yup - Gibbo and Yammie variations (one P90s and the other Buckers)

    So, I must have:

    Semi
    Vee
    Ricky
PRS, but I'll wait until I re-train as a dentist for that  ;)

    Baritone acoustic,
    Acoustic bass guitar
    Precision bass
    Electric lap steel

And finally a silver-face deluxe reverb or a 6G16 Vibroverb  clone.

    Im not a collector, I'm a player.
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Good point my friend but perhaps the question is " what is missing from your collection that would enhance/increase your enjoyment in playing guitar.  Or something.

The above mentioned guitar would give my collection everything bar P90's (which I don't want.......)

    H/H - check

    S/S/S - Check

    H/S/H - check

    Just lacking a H/S/S set-up. Then I'll be a happy Mike.
