Boss BB-1x

What's Hot

Our bassist just bought one and we spent the whole day playing with it pretty much. It pisses all over the Sansamp that he has. I'm starting to realise that I really hate the sound of a sansamp. When it's set clean, it just fucks the low-end... and when it's set dirty, it sounds like a fart in a beehive. Utter tosh imho. The Hartke VXL Bass Attack I used to have was way better.

But the BB-1x is really really nice. The high-gain tones it does are very reminiscent of that Karnivool bass tone that everyone loves, and it has clarity and definition for days. It doesn't get muddy like the Sansamp and it doesn't fuck your low-end at all. Really impressed.

  • I really love my EBS but am quite curious to try the Boss just for options.

I might have to try one of these, since you're not alone in hating the Sansamp…

On the other hand I have just bought a 100 watt bass fuzzbox for less than they cost :).

I'm probably just gonna profile the shit out of it! :)

It sounds great into the front of Amplitube SVX's SVT model.

I don't like the Sansamp BDDI but I really like the VT-Bass-DI.

I might try the Boss, but will it be better than my selection of Darkglass pedals? Mmmmmmmmm

I was sure they should do an mdp bass pedal as the guitar ones are awesome for drop tuning.

Bah. Don't think I can profile it. Not sure why. But it doesn't sound right. Maybe coz of the blend feature.

Maybe it's the MDP thing as I think they change what they do based on the input.

You ever tried it on guitar to see what it sounds like?

    Nah I didn't actually.

  • Looks pretty cool, wasn't aware of this one.  I've been gassing for a Darkglass, but I need a bass guitar I actually like first.  Oh well, at least I'm happy with guitars.

I didn't like the sansamp either.

This pedal is of interest to me although to be honest I find it hard to beat the combination of LS-2 plus RAT, so much so that I'm considering making a RAT with a clean blend built in. In fact, just "LS-2 plus a.n. guitar overdrive" works a treat.
